The Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the Northwest Ohio Manufacturing Alliance (NOMA) is seeking bids from a qualified consultant or team of consultants or community based organization to provide WorkAdvance services. These services will support the achievement of outcomes for a federally supported, 36-month initiative called the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Good Jobs Challenge. This project is funded by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) through the ARPA Good Jobs Challenge grant. NOMA to receive $930,000 of Funding from Ohio Manufacturers' Association
The Northwest Ohio Manufacturing Alliance, a program of the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, is set to receive up to $930,000 over the next three years in support of its mission to strengthen the manufacturing sector and connect our residents to meaningful careers.
This is part of The Ohio Manufacturers' Association's $23,492,808 award from the Economic Development Administration's American Rescue Plan Act Good Jobs Challenge Program announced August 3.
“This investment in combination with the guidance and best practice sharing with OMA and peer industry sector partnerships will have a tremendous impact in our region for growing our local trained and credentialed manufacturing workforce,” said Sara Swisher, vice president of talent and workforce at the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The quarterly NOMA meeting was held on September 16, 2022. A huge thank you to Rebecca Singer, President & CEO of the Center for Innovative Food Technology (CIFT), for hosting the meeting at the Northwest Ohio Cooperative Kitchen (NOCK). |
Quarterly Meeting (Q2) | June 3, 2022
Terra State Community College hosted the Northwest Ohio Manufacturing Alliance Membership Meeting on June 3d.
Nate Kohlenberg, Assistant Dean of Technology and Skilled Trades provided updates on grant applications and renovations. He also discussed Terra’s ability to offer customized training solutions to businesses, Industrial Certifications, and pre-employment assessments. Terra State is also moving forward on a project to tackle deferred maintenance and energy efficiency upgrades within the next year with a 1.7 Megawatt Soar Installation.
Selena Coley, Program Assistant and Shaulonda Jones Assistant Program Officer of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) spoke about Ohio To Work where career coaches remove barriers and skill up individuals to connect employers. YouScience is an application that assesses individuals’ aptitudes and matches with businesses with employment opportunities. With the help of Jobs Ohio, 16 schools leading into Penta Career Center will be utilizing this application.
Manufacturing day is October 7th. Businesses were encouraged to connect to area schools to provide tours all month long. Tours will be featured in social media in October.
NOMA is also developing a Tiger Team to facilitate brainstorming session(s) about needs, assets, barriers and opportunities in the region – with a view toward arriving at specific actions items that could strengthen business-education partnerships, increase public awareness of the value of education in connection with workforce pathways and set the area on a plan to create a more mutually beneficial setting that serves students, schools, businesses and the community.
Our next NOMA Membership meeting is scheduled for September 16th 9:00 am – 11:00 am at the CIFT NOCK building
